Feed Forward
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 7 August 2026
Feed Forward is an AI calorie tracker published by SeeWhy. It is built to collect as little as possible: there are no accounts, no logins, no advertising, and no analytics or tracking SDKs. This policy explains the one place your data leaves your device, and why.
What we send
To turn a meal into a calorie estimate, Feed Forward sends only the input you capture to our estimation service, which is powered by Anthropic's Claude API:
- Photo logging — the meal photo you take is downscaled on your device and sent over HTTPS for estimation.
- Voice logging — your speech is transcribed on your device by Apple's on-device speech recognition. The audio never leaves your device — only the resulting text transcript is sent.
- Typed logging — the text you type, on the same path as a transcript.
That is the complete list. We do not send your name, email address, device identifiers, contacts, location, or any other personal information — the app does not collect them.
How it is used and kept
- Your photo or text is used solely to produce the calorie estimate returned to your device. It is processed by Anthropic under their API terms and is not used to train models.
- Our service is stateless. It does not keep your timeline, your history, or a copy of anything you send. It reads your input, returns a number, and retains nothing.
Your data stays on your device
- Your entries and history are stored locally on your device.
- If you enable iCloud, your history is backed up to your own Apple iCloud account so it survives a reinstall and syncs across your devices. That is Apple's infrastructure — we do not operate it and cannot access it.
- Deleting the app removes its on-device data. iCloud data is managed through your Apple ID settings.
Permissions
Feed Forward asks only for what a capture needs, at the moment you use it:
- Microphone & Speech Recognition — to transcribe voice logs on device.
- Camera — to photograph a meal.
- Photo Library — only if you choose an existing photo instead of taking one.
- Notifications — for the daily reminders to log, at times you choose.
You can change any of these at any time in iOS Settings.
Children
Feed Forward is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
